THE A, B, C STEPS TO KNOWING JESUS
God loves you and me. The Bible says, “For God so loved the world that
He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him shall not
perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)
God wants us to be His children. God sent His son to earth to die on the
cross and pay the price for your sin and mine. It is not difficult to find
God, therefore, the steps to knowing Him are as easy as ABC:
A. Admit that you’re a sinner. The Bible says, “All have sinned and
come short of the glory of God.” (Rom. 3:23) This means our sins
separate us from God. It is as though God stands on one side of the
Grand Canyon while you and me are on the other side. The Bible also
says, “The wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life through
Jesus Christ our Lord.” (Romans 6:23) Notice that eternal life is a gift.
This means that we can’t earn it. WE can’t be good enough in our roles
as spouses, parents, children, workers, church-goers, etc.
So, how does one receive the free gift?
B. Believe that Jesus is the Son of God. The Bible says, “For there is
one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.” (1 Timothy
2:5) Jesus is the only way we can get to Heaven and be with God. Jesus
said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life, no man comes to the Father
but by me.” (John 14:6)
The only way to get to heaven is through Jesus.
C. Confess your sin and turn to Jesus. The Bible says, “Whosoever calls
on the name of the Lord will be saved.” If a person asks Jesus to come
into his or her heart and forgive sin, then Jesus will do His part. “If we
confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us of our sins and
cleanse of us all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:9) This means there is
nothing in our life that God can’t forgive.
Isn’t that Good News?
If you want to accept God's gift of forgiveness and eternal life, won’t you
say the following prayer to God?
"Dear Lord,
I know that I sin and do things that are wrong. I ask you to come into my
heart and forgive me. I believe you died on the cross to pay for my sin
and rose again from the dead. I want to turn from my sin and trust you
as my Lord and Savior.
In Jesus Name, AMEN."
